If you prefer to do it yourself then this is the site for you. Finding out what the locals in the area are doing in their town, where they are eating shopping and view photos and reviews.

An amazing looking search engine much the same of google flights helping you find the best price with a huge option customization
Roadtrippers
This helps you avoid the usual stop at McDonalds or Starbucks for wifi or food this lets you know all the best places to stop along your route. Attractions hotels natural wonders and weird stuff also show up in their filter system.
WeTravel
This site helps you create a dedicated page to a trip with your friends sort of like a Facebook event but you can all deposit money as well to a pool and organizes all the details very well for everyone to see and stay organized.
SeatGuru
This helps you be aware of things the airline will not tell you, like exact legroom if the tv works special considerations like noise closeness to the lavatory or if there is a lot of traffic near your seat.

This allows you to track your flight in the air in real time it will let you see delays before the airline or airport announces them . You can track your own flight or a friends if you ever need to pick someone up there is no more guesswork
